Peace starts within us – we cannot bring to the world what we do not have to offer.

The essay that follows found its way to me this week and I have found a moment today to read, reflect and practice- just the perfect whisper that the peace I desire in my daily interactions begins from within me.

To my husband Mike, my boys and to all who share part of their week with me to experience movement through Tai Chi.
Deepest gratitude to you for this time to learn and grow with my teacher and his loving family. I am ready to move my body and fall in love with the moment. From the moment I step out of my house today, I step out of my comfort zone and begin to play with energy inside and all around me. So many opportunities to neutralize the internal and external story that plays in my mind while staying present in the moment. With my why/goal-to receive the love of others and feel the presence of balance and harmony in the moment. My teacher will nurture my ability to change my center, to change my story so I can see the possibilities to move closer vs. farther away from balance & harmony. This time to be with my teacher is an amazing gift. An opportunity for me to turn my focus toward the abundance of love in and around me and begin to function from a place of love for others, love for myself and love for my calling. To open my heart to others without hesitation, fear, doubt, worry or regret. Tai Chi-The Grand Ultimate, meaning Balance and Harmony. Solo-Forms in Tai Chi develop the art of knowing yourself. 2 Person interactions in Tai Chi develop the art of knowing others. Kung Fu is high level or meritorious work. Kung Fu like Tai Chi is everywhere and in everything we do. There are so many ways throughout your week to refocus your intentions so you can cultivate energy that is rich in love and light. My invitation to you is to take time doing something just for you-time to renew and fill your heart as you move into a new year of abundant possibilities-Happy New Year!

Peace BY MADISYN TAYLOR

Peace starts within us – we cannot bring to the world what we do not have to offer.

Often we look at the outside world and find it in a state of seeming chaos or disorder. We feel compelled to transform the situation from one of turmoil into one of peace, yet we are often disappointed in our best attempts to do so. One reason for this is that we cannot bring to the world what we do not have to offer. Peace starts in our own minds and hearts, not outside of ourselves, and until its roots are firmly entrenched in our own selves, we cannot manifest it externally. Once we have found it within, we can share it with our family, our community, and the whole wide world. Some of us may already be doing just that, but for most of us, the first step is looking within and honestly evaluating the state of our own relationship to peacefulness.

Interestingly, people who manifest peace internally are not different from us; they have chattering thoughts and troubled emotions like we all do. The difference is that they do not lend their energy to them, so those thoughts and feelings can simply rise and fall like the waves of the ocean without disturbing the deeper waters of peacefulness within. We all have this ability to choose how we distribute our energy, and practice enables us to grow increasingly more serene as we choose the vibration of peace over the vibration of conflict. We begin to see our thoughts and feelings as tiny objects on the surface of our being that pose no threat to the deep interior stillness that is the source of peacefulness.

When we find that we are able to locate ourselves more and more in the deeper waters and less on the tumultuous surface of our being, we have discovered a lasting relationship with peace that will enable us to inspire peace beyond ourselves. Until then, we help the world most by practicing the art of choosing peace within.

To Michael Nader & David-Dorian Ross from my heart to yours thank you.
